The Power of Connection
No matter how I’m feeling—whether it’s a rough day or one where everything feels overwhelming—there’s always one thing that brings me joy: talking to my loved ones. Whether it’s an in-person visit, a FaceTime call, or just hearing their voice over the phone, it instantly lifts my spirit. Knowing that I have people who love me, support me, and genuinely care about me is the greatest comfort. It reminds me that no matter what challenges I’m facing, I’m never alone. That connection, that love, is what truly keeps me going, and I cherish it more than anything.
Redefining Happiness
My happiness has been through so much—tested, reshaped, and redefined over the course of my health journey. I’ve experienced the lowest of lows, moments where joy felt impossible, but I’ve also learned to find happiness in the everyday—in the things I do, the people around me, and the small moments that make life beautiful. It hasn’t been a simple or linear path, and I know I’m still not all the way there, but I’m working on it every day. There’s so much in life to be happy about, and even on the hardest days, I remind myself that joy is still out there, waiting to be found.
Celebrating Small Wins
When I celebrate the small wins in my health journey, it usually involves a little bit of shopping. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but honestly, it brings me joy. There’s something about getting something new that makes me feel good. It’s a way of acknowledging my progress, no matter how big or small, and reminding myself that I deserve to enjoy life along the way. Maybe it’s not the deepest form of self-care, but if it makes me happy, that’s what matters.
My Greatest Support System
Through everything in my health journey, my mom has been my biggest support and greatest source of joy. She’s truly my rock, always there for me no matter what. At my highest of highs, she’s cheering me on, celebrating my wins as if they were her own. And at my lowest of lows, she’s the one lifting me back up, reminding me of my strength even when I struggle to see it myself. Her love and support never waver, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her. She’s my constant, my safe place, and I’m so grateful for her every single day.
Finding Joy in the Little Moments
If you’re struggling to find joy in everyday life while dealing with a chronic illness, my advice is to carve out a moment just for yourself each day—no matter how small. Do something that brings you happiness, whether it’s writing in a journal, reading a book, watching your favorite show, or even just treating yourself to a drink or a snack you love. Prioritizing these little moments can make a huge difference, reminding you that joy still exists, even on the hardest days. Keep fighting and never give up—joy is out there for us, and we deserve to find it.
